Information about the Program
The Undergraduate Program in Political Science and International Relations was established under the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences and has been accepting students since March 2013.
Earned Level of Qualification
BA (6 Level) in Political Science and International Relations.
Admission Requirements
Applicants holding Turkish citizenship must obtain the required scores in one of the tests (First Cycle Placement Test (LYS/TM 1), Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS), Direct Transfer Test (DGS)) that are centrally organized by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
Foreign students applying to the program must satisfy the admissions criteria determined by Istanbul 29 Mayıs University.
Graduation Requirements
For the successful completion of the BA program, students are expected to have earned 240 ECTS credits from the curriculum accepted by the university senate and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.00/4.00.

Description of the Program
BA in Political Science and International Relations
The Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University offers a BA (Bachelor of Arts/Lisans) and a MA (Master of Arts/Yüksek Lisans) degree. The BA academic programme covers the five major subfields in the discipline: comparative politics, international relations, political theory, political sociology and Turkish politics. Moreover, before completion of their fourth semester, students are required to choose a regional module to deepen their knowledge in one of the following areas: (1) Middle East, (2) European Union, (3) Eurasia and Turkic Republics, and (4) Balkans.
With this global and regional perspective department graduates will find career opportunities at home and abroad in the private as well as the public sector. For instance, in institutions affiliated to international organizations, in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Ministry of Interior, in universities, the media, and in private companies.
The BA programme is fully in English and students are required to reach an upper intermediate level of English (B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference Languages). Students willing to enrol to our Department must demonstrate their knowledge of English in an exam held three times a year by the Prep-School.
