Dr. Merve Kütük-Kuriş received her BA degree in Political Science from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2008, and her M.Phil. degree in Political Theory from the University of Oxford in 2011. She completed her doctorate in Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in 2016. Her main research interests revolve around social theory, political ethnography, anthropology of Islam, and gender with particular reference to the Middle East. Kütük-Kuriş has published several journal articles and chapters in edited volumes on the politics of gender in Turkey.
